It is common that car manufacturers to have decrease on sales by double digits no matter which brand it is.
American Honda reports the Sales for May 2009 with the decrease of 39.2% compared with May 2008. The best-selling Honda car in May 2009, the Honda Accord, posted a 48.3% decrease compared with May 2008. The hidden incentives on the Accord and the Civic ends in April, which could be the reason that sales for the Accords and the Civic drop.
Surprisingly, sales for the Honda Pilot and the Honda Odyssey only decrease by 12.3% and 6.5%, with 7,412 units and 12,127 units sold.
For the year 2009 so far, sales drops 33.3% compared with the first five months of year 2008.

Honda Rebates & Honda Incentives for April 2009 has been updated. Rebates and incentives are almost same as last month despite the drop in car sales. Below is a summary and some key for car shoppers.
The 2009 Honda CR-V, the compact size crossover, has $500 dealer cash. However, we think there must be more hidden incentives on the 2009 Honda CR-V as some Honda dealerships are offering $2,000 under invoice on EX AWD model, while the 3.5% Honda holdback is only around $800.
The 2009 Honda Pilot, has $1,500 dealer cash, which is not as much as other mid size crossovers and SUVs, for example, the 2009 Mazda CX-9. However, we do see people get $3,000 below invoice. It makes us wonder if money to Honda dealers after the purchase is done is available.
The 2009 Honda Civic and the 2009 Honda Civic Coupe have $500 cash back to Honda dealer for each unit being sold.
The 2009 Honda Accord, including both the Accord Sedan and the Accord coupe, V6 and 4 cylinder, has $1,000 to support Honda dealer to increase the market share.
Besides, there are hidden incentives under the table between Honda dealership and the Japanese car manufacturer that once the Honda dealer reaches the sales goal, there is a stair-up program that would give the Honda dealer additional $500 to $1,000 cash for all Accords and Civics sold in the period, depending on which tier the dealer is at. This could be a huge bonus to Honda car shoppers as if the dealer you are working with needs to reach the sales goal in order to get the additional money from Honda, you could get a smoking deal since even car dealership loses money on your car, much more money could be made through the additional bonus.
Hope this information would help you get the best Honda deal. Please report your price to us as it would help to find out any hidden incentives and rebates available.
