Even with the huge jump of more than 900 points in Dow Jones today, it seems Honda still does not think US SUV/Minivan Market will come back anytime soon.
Honda plans to reduce the production of 2009 Honda Pilot and and 2009 Honda Odyssey between November 2008 and March 2009 by total of 22,000 units despite gas price is dropping. It is believed that the reason of this decision is due to the US customers move from SUV/Minivan to sedans becuase of the cheaper price and less gas consumption. However, it is believed that Honda will use the production line to produce more Accord, the mid-size family sedan of Honda.
Since it usually takes two months to have the car delivered from factory to dealers’ parking lot, the reduced quantities might affect the market by around end of January 2009. Expect auto makers to have similiar decision as SUVs/Minivans are very hard to be sold for the last half year. Mazda is having huge hidden dealer incentive on 2008 CX-9 and hidden dealer cash on 2008 CX-7 , and 40% off MSRP on Nissan SUV/Minivan . For people who are looking to buy SUV/Minivan, be prepared and do not wait for too long. X’mas this year seems to be a good time as there are still plenty of inventories and you could get a good deal before car makers adjust reduce their production.

Some of our members are looking for new 2009 Honda Accord EX-L V6 sedan with AT, and acording to their report that price seems more attracitve than most people would expect.
Most first car quotes are at around $26,500, even one quote is at MSRP, which we do not believe they actually sell the car at, there are some quotes at around $25,500. Even with “documentation” fees, it is still under $26,000, which is not bad for a Honda car just hit the market for around 1 month.
The lowest quote, which does not involve negotiation yet, is in Boston area, which is $24,977 (including destination fee mentioned in writing), and expected to have $299 doc fee added on it to make total $25,276. Put 5% MA sales tax on it makes OTD price sliently over $27000, at around $27,110. Again, it is for a 2009 Honda Accord EX-L V6 Sedan as MSRP is $29,255. Unless it is a false advertisement, it has everything to show it is a 2009 Honda Accord EX-L V6 Sedan AT. Besides this one, there are some from NJ Honda dealer quote , and IL Honda dealer quote. Keep in mind most of them are just offers, when you walk into dealers you should get a little bit cheaper price if your negotiation skill is good.
What makes car price low for a car just hit market? Economy is not good for sure, but it has been awhile, so automotive makers should have already got it. Another interesting to be asked, if 2009 Honda Accord can be had for this low price, the $1500 below invoice for 2008 Honda Accords are probably is just a piece of cake?

One of our readers report to us that a dealer is giving out all 2008 Honda Accords are marked to $1500 below the real invoice. On the list, it has EX, EX V6, EX-L 4cyl with navigation system, EX-L V6 and LX-P.
It is well-known that there is $500 market support on these cars, but how could this dealer advertise that price, as you could mostly get lower price after negotiation, if 2008 Honda Accords has only $500 incentive? Yes, there are always holdback, floor plan and all others, but there is no way a dealer includes all discounts on their intinial offer.
Here is an example of the offer: 2008 Honda Accord LX-P
Therefore, when you plan to get a 2008 Honda Accord, be hurried but firm on your price. Offer dealers $2000 below invoice see what they response.
Hope everyone get the best deal on car purchase. Also, please report your actual car price and quote to us as it help all people save time and don’t get ripped off by car dealers.
Thanks!
