04 Feb 09 Honda Sold 63,175 units, Drops 30.5% of Car Sales in January 2009

Like what has been saying for several months, another month of decreasing sales in January 2009 for Honda.

Honda posted 63,175 Honda cars January 2009, compared with 87,343 cars being sold in January 2008. As what has been happening in the past few months in the automotive market, most of auto makers have been having double digits decrease in sales, and some of them have even 30% or 40% drop.

The Honda Accord, the midsize family sedan from Honda, is still leading in all Honda sales with 16,581 units being sold, while 23,957 units were sold in January last year.

The Honda Civic, the compact size sedan from Honda, is following up the Accord with 14,198 units sold. Comparing with sales of January last year with 20,993 units, it is a decline of 35% daily sales rate.

The Honda Fit, re-designed for model year 2009, becomes one of the few cars with increase of sales. 1.8% of increase, which translates to 4,745 Honda Fits were sold last month, compared with 4,480 units sold in January 2008.

The Honda CR-V leads all Honda SUV and trucks with 13,143 units sold, while 16,016 CR-Vs were sold in January last year.
